About Drapescapes Window Fashions
Built on Craftsmanship and Custom Window Treatment Excellence
Drapescapes Window Fashions is an upscale custom window treatment and soft home furnishings design house that caters to those with discriminating taste and an affinity towards individuality and self-expression. We are known for recreating a myriad of design styles, merging beauty and functionality and solving specific spatial challenges. Our mastery language includes these maxims: Innovation, reliability, elegance, precision, and resourcefulness. While the owner, Diana Smoot Olan has been providing drapery workroom and other window covering services for 27 years, she officially began Drapescapes in August of 2015 in Winnsboro, SC.
Mrs. Smoot Olan was the last Family and Consumer Science Teacher (formerly Home Economics), in Fairfield County after she retired in 2025 having started 40 years ago. She attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV where she received extensive technical training in home furnishings design and fabrication. Her passion comes from generations of quilters, master seamstresses and a very elegant and prolific grandmother who had a penchant for design on her mother’s side and a family of builders
on her father’s side.
As a child she demonstrated great creative ability. Her father recognized her potential and bought her one of those baby Singer sewing machines for Christmas when she was just 5 years old, and the rest is history.
If we have learned anything from television networks like HGTV, it is that everyone deserves some luxury in their lives and a home that calms, serves and represents them. That is why she chose the mission of:
“Making self-expression through home furnishings accessible and affordable to everyone”
As a former vocational teacher, she also believes that it is important to introduce young people to industries they may not have known existed. She stated, “We need to generate interest and make services and career exploration available to preserve these arts.” She hopes to make a significant contribution to the rebuilding of her community and ensuring the preservation of the future of Winnsboro, as the town explores its new emerging identity. She also hopes to serve the Winnsboro and surrounding cities with professionalism and integrity making Drapescapes the go to company for window treatments in the Midlands.
Throughout her creative business career she has done work in two Columbia Dream Houses, two State Senator’s offices, The Governor’s mansion, A Washington Senator’s office, three homes in the Columbia Parade of Homes and a host of homes for professional athletes and celebrities.
Drapescapes provides wholesale and retail custom fabrication services. Bedding accessories, custom cornices, valances, draperies, cushions and light upholstery represent most of the fabrication services that are offered. In addition, the business offers custom blinds, shades and shutters of all types as well as drapery rods and other hardware.
